Berkay - Innovationspecialist

Hello, my name is Berkay and I am from Turkey. I have been living in the Netherlands for more than 10 years now and I have been working at Vion for 3.5 years. My background is in business administration.

In my role as innovation specialist at Vion, I am part of digitalisation and automation projects. I contribute to creating more efficient processes, develop applications and automate daily manual tasks.

What I value most in my work is that Vion is happy to embrace any initiative to create more efficient processes. By collaborating with different departments, I can actually influence the end result.

Weronika - Supervisor Packaging Department

Hi, I am Weronika Agata. I am 24 years old and I moved to the Netherlands after getting my degree in Biology.

In my current position, I have been supervisor of the packaging department at Vion for more than 3 years. My daily tasks include managing team leaders, ensuring quality and promoting production. Especially the latter aspect is really my thing.

What I like most about my job is the abundance of opportunities for personal development. I can not only participate in projects, but also lead initiatives aimed at changing and improving the production process.

Rick - HR Project Manager Digital Transformation

Hey, I'm Rick. In am 23 years old and working at Vion since September. In my spare time, I love spending time with friends and I also enjoy sports. I successfully completed my HRM studies at the Avans in Den Bosch. Funnily enough, during my studies I already did an internship at Vion for a year, and now I am back on the old nest.

In my position, I currently work for the HR Digital department, where my activities converge on both HR and IT. This means that my work includes building dashboards, managing and improving HR software systems and digitising HR processes.

What I like most about my job and makes my work really cool is that I can combine my interests in both HRM and IT. I also enjoy working on projects and interacting with different disciplines.

Why I like working at Vion and what makes Vion unique as an employer: During my internship at Vion, I was given a lot of freedom to develop myself both personally and professionally. That freedom and autonomy helped me discover what I like and what I don't like. So it was actually natural to come back to Vion after my training. Here I get the space to grow and discover what really suits me. The open atmosphere and opportunities for development make Vion a unique employer for me.

Nadeche - Internal communication intern

Hi, I am Nadeche de Goey. I am 22 years old and am currently doing my graduation internship at Vion Boxtel. I am studying Communication at Fontys in Tilburg and am in my final year. My goal is to successfully complete my graduation internship at Vion.

In my role as a graduation intern at Vion Boxtel, I am working on a research project aimed at optimising student tours. Currently, there is no set protocol and tours are given on demand. My task is to map out the customer journey and actively contribute to stimulating these tours so that new potential employees may roll out here in the future.

What I like most about my job is the variety; no two days are the same. As an intern, I am taken seriously and given the chance to actively think and help, which is very nice. Moreover, my research is very relevant and gives me great pleasure in working and eventually delivering results.

Why I like working at Vion and what makes Vion unique as an employer is the friendliness and helpfulness of my colleagues, as well as the positive working atmosphere. Bogdan - 'Middle Line' team leader

Hello, my name is Bogdan and I am 31 years old. I am originally from Romania and have been working in the Netherlands since 2016. My career at Vion started in the Middle Department (middle piece of the pig) as a cutting room employee. After one and a half years, I got the opportunity to advance to the position of team leader.

In my current role, I am Middle Line team leader, which means I am responsible for the middle section of the pig. As team leader, I lead a team of 60 people. Together, we ensure that we produce high-quality meat in a safe and pleasant environment.

What I value most in my work is the constant opportunity to learn more. I also greatly enjoy working with my team members.

Why I enjoy working at Vion and what makes Vion unique as an employer is the appreciation I feel since day one. Every day I learn new things. Vion has therefore encouraged me to further develop my career. Despite Vion being a big company, employees are really well taken care of. It feels like a place where you can grow, both professionally and personally. You are valued, even in a big organisation.

Mariam - Management Trainee

Hi, I am Mariam, a trainee from Costa Rica. I have a background in agronomy and a master's degree in Food Systems. In Costa Rica, I worked at HPE as a supply chain and logistics assistant. I was also part of the student organisation AIESEC, where I met many international students. I also did volunteer work in Poland. Later, I took the decision to quit my job and travel around Europe. That's how I got to Germany and started my master's degree. The rest is history.

I am now a year into my current role as a management trainee at Vion. I carried out projects in the field of food services, focusing on data collection for carbon footprint calculation. I have also worked on projects on sales, inventory management and valorisation.

What I value most about my job is constantly meeting new people in different locations and the fact that we start from scratch every four months. Although it can be challenging and sometimes a bit chaotic, it is very satisfying to see how I can develop myself in a short period of time and learn a lot about topics I previously knew little about.

Why I enjoy working at Vion and what makes Vion unique as an employer is the fascinating dynamics of the company. Sometimes it can be challenging because of the lack of standard processes, but what makes Vion special is the opportunity to try new positions over time. They are always open to exploring opportunities and developing your own skills. Here, you are not limited to one role and there are always opportunities to try something new.

Peter - Rayonmanager Nettorama

Hi, I am Peter van Maaren. I am 49 years old and live in cosy Lunteren. My life revolves around my beautiful family: Reina, my wife to whom I have been married for 25 years, and our two sons, Bram aged 17 and Thijn aged 15.

I am currently working as a regional manager at Nettorama, where I am responsible for Retail. My working area includes managing the middle of the Netherlands.

What makes my job so attractive to me is the diversity I experience on a daily basis. The responsibility I bear, dealing with my colleagues and the variety of people in my team make every working day interesting. The contact with fresh produce adds another dimension and keeps my work exciting.

For me, Vion is a unique employer because of its focus on people and animals. The company not only values efficiency, but also attaches great importance to the welfare of both employees and animals. Piotr - Assistant Foreman

Hello, my name is Piotr. I am 35 years old and am originally from Poland. I am currently single and have been living in the Netherlands for six years. My two older sisters also work abroad. One of my greatest passions is cooking and enjoying good food.

In my current position as cooperating foreman at the Cutting Room, I am responsible for a specific processing line in the department. My job is to make sure we produce the right quantities. So sometimes I jump in myself to handle peak moments. In addition, I always look out for new talent and mentor colleagues to help them advance to different departments.

What I value most in my job is the opportunity to mentor people. There are many opportunities for self-development, to get better and grow within the company.

It's great to be able to do something for Vion and get to know new people, like today during the photo shoot. Aryana - Internal Communications Officer

Hi, I am Aryana Diaz, 27 years old and living in cosy Veldhoven. Currently, I have enjoyed working as an Internal Communications Officer at Vion for two years.

In my role, I manage all internal communication channels at Vion, from Vionline to Narrowcasting and the Vion app. My days are pretty diverse. I write, edit texts and advise other departments on the communication of their projects. One of the nicest aspects of my work is the variety, no two days are the same. One day I send out a press release and the next day I supervise a photo shoot at a butcher's shop. That variety is what keeps my work so fascinating.

What I like most about working at Vion is the diversity of my tasks and the fact that I am surrounded by a corporate culture that reminds me of my own Spanish roots. Cooking has always been one of my greatest passions, something I inherited from my family. Food connects, and that is exactly what makes Vion's culture so special.
